The biggest alligator gar catch ever since 1963.

On the 14th of February from vicksburgh, Mr. Kenny Williams caught a fish measured 5 inches long, 8 feet and 48 inches round the body. This amazing catch look like an alligator, a dinosaur and a fish itself with its frightening two rows sharp teethes.  A report from the WAPT.com says that it’s the biggest fish ever caught and it has been caught using nets.  Before being grabbed with lots of efforts by its gills and being pulled into the owner’s boat.

Williams says to the reporter that he was amazed by the size and the look of his catch and cannot find word to describe it.  Many having seen the fish described it as a frightening predator or a dinosaur.  The (MDWFP) Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks with the officials said that it could be the largest fish ever wedged. In the scientific literature there was a report from 1963 that a catch of an alligator gar of 302-pound has been recorded at that time but this catch if far more as it weight 327 pound said Dennie Riecke of the MDWFP’s.  It is considered as the biggest record in Mississippi. This fish is assumed to have 50 to 70 years of age.

Williams Kenny offers the huge catch of the decades for exhibition in the future to the Mississippi Museum of natural Science where it will be set ready permanently.

Aquaculture strategy to reduce overexploitation

The 1st policy has been issued on Wednesday 9th of February for aquaculture, giving the opportunity to firm raising seafood to be created in central waters, as far as salted fish and wild fish stocks is not in danger.

The strategy set up by the (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) consists of universal values that local fishery councils need to gather when proposing fish farms.
The global growth of aquaculture was quick for e.g. in 2009 a key source of seafood globally said uncultivated catch stocks surpass shell and farmed fish.   The statistics of the NOAA is that 84% of the consumption of seafood is in the US is now imported and half of that is farmed through aquaculture.

Shellfish aquaculture is naturally extended to 3 miles offshore, in the US most fin farmed fish are plant eating fish-e.g. tilapia. Few seawater fin fish were farmed and the strategy request more investigation to surrogate about natural fish and farmed fish in the meals.  This could lessen the collision on the ecosystem. The strategy call for a restriction on stocking farmed fish with non- native fish till it can be established that their existence will not affect the ecosystem, habitats and wild species.
In other countries aquaculture procedures were disapproved from researches and environment list as it increase diseases and pollution amongst untamed fish.  Typical salmon (farmed fish) fed on pellets from minor sea fish that is associated with a decrease of wild sea fish stocks.
The strategy is judged to be a step on the right path and gradually aquamarine standardize, state the director of the aquaculture program, Mr. George H. Leonard.
From the 11 of April, the community can comment on the aquaculture strategies and ultimate report will be taken into account this time said Mr. Schwaab.  Aquaculture industry plays an important role in the global economy as it provides employments, food for living, encouraged exports to the world market and prompts the latest technologies to maintain the industries. 5 billion pounds are spent with fish yearly by the Americans.

Sharp increase reported in Scots fish lice chemical.

A BBC Scotland analysis has learned that, the amount of chemicals used by fish farmers to care for sea lice infestations has risen considerably. Scottish government statistics showed that the past years, the industry used a larger broader variety of chemicals.

The statistics are evidence that the natural sponger is opposing to the treatments, campaigners claimed. Fish lice have been held responsible for destroying sea trout and salmon stocks. According to the government's data, between the year 2005 and 2009, chemicals used to wrestle the sponger amplified rapidly. From the Association of Salmon Boards, Mr. Andrew Wallace alleged that when young fish travel from rivers to the ocean they can be at risk to naturally occurring sea lice."Currently in normal circumstances there aren't numerous lice around, the lice that are around originated from accessible wild population of fish, he said. Now that's happening on a handful of farms, no more than a handful. But if that spreads and we have a large number of farms just unable to treat their sea lice, we have an industry in crisis”.

Due to lack of assistance and consideration in the farming zone, legal measure was establish to force fish farmers to step away from responsive rivers where sea trout and salmons are, declared Mr. Wallace. The opinion of a Scottish Salmon Producers Association Dr John Webster is that any legal attempt would be insufficient.

Mr. Guy. L. Adams Ecological lawyer says “if million fish are in jail on a travelling route of those fishes and suddenly you are trapped in a different kind of problem and the numbers of lice coming off these farms are awful at times.

Worldwide fish consumption gets far above expectation.

Marine fish harvest supply the earth with approximately sixteen percent living protein ingestion and around 145 million tonnes in 2009.Worldwide fish consumption gets far above expectation with a standard of 17kg/person, statistics proved by a UN statement. Thirty-two percent is said to be recovering, depleted and overexploited, the FAO (findings published by the Food and Agriculture Organization) highlight that the status of worldwide stock of fish has not enchancedand is a matter that need consideration as it raise anxiety for the aqua-animals.

In few regions in order to reach people demand for marine fish, the rank of overexploitation has increased in 2006.   15% of fish stocks were considered fairly exploited or underexploited.  In 2008 the food commodity that is most trade is fish and its cost the United State $ 102Bilion-An increase of 9 % of 2007.Tuna fish is sure to lessen unless forecast management improves. China is still the biggest marine fish-producing country, it produces Forty-seven point five million tonnes in 2008 (14.8 million tonnes from imprison fisheries and 32.7 millions tonnes form the sea).

The worldwide statistics shows that 80 million tonnes fish are captured from the sea and 10 millions tonnes are from local waters. An average of growing rate of 6.6 percent, supplies from the sector has increased from 0.7 kilogram in 1970 to 8kg in 2008.The marine life was subjugated, the records of worldwide production is 89 % and value is 79% from the Asia / Pacific region.
A third of the worldwide of aquaculture is considered as overexploited and ten of the most popular fish are becoming rare on the market. The tuna stocks are being completely exploited, the only few underexploited is the “skipjack”.
Another problem the FAO describe is the usual unreported fishing and thrown-out fishes and specially the captivity of ecological species, which remain at a very high-level.
The latest statistics says about 7 million/year global fish is being discards, thus for an improvement the UN agency will direct a control to reduce discards and over fishing.

Fish consumption reduce diseases

The American government’s new dietary strategy need to include the double quantity of fish intake in their meal to reduce the risk of heart disease, Statics says that people should consume at least 8 ounces weekly but presently people consume just 3 ½ ounces which is not enough for the good function of the heart, a guideline says. Fish intake diminished the risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease says Tom Vilsack, a US secretary department of agriculture.

The new dietary strategy is to include at least two fish dishes in the Americana’s meals and the news highlight this matter with the USDA so that they can include this to their plans.
Seafood includes nutrients such as Omega-3 fatty acid which reduce the risk of heart problems.
Consuming fish and other seafood reduce the risk linked with methyl mercury.
Some seafood which is rich in Omega-3 and less in Mercury are:

·         Atlantic and pacific mackerel
·         Herring
·         Sardines
·         Pacific oyster
·         Trout
·         Salmon
·         Anchovies
·         Flounder
·         Canned tuna
·         crab

A registered dietician in Boston says that she is glad about the seafood diet plan but she doubt that people apply it to their daily life as fish consumption is scarcely low and that would take time for people to include it to their meals.  Meanwhile, it is suggest that people who isn’t eating fish to include food with omega-3 in their meal like for e.g. cheese milk or eggs.
